We encourage deserving applicants to write a short application essay explaining why YOU should receive a scholarship. Scholarships are primarily granted to young women and men from developing countries, who have demonstrated active participation in their local communities, an interest in intercultural subjects, and who vigorously believe in and will pursue the ideals and core values as those of the IPC. The final allocations of scholarships are dependent on the motivation of the individual to become an active student at the school expressed through an essay as part of the application. As one of its contributions to development cooperation,every academic year KU Leuven selects exceptional students from developing countries as scholarship candidates to obtain their PhD from the largest university of Flanders, Belgium. A new PhD fellowship in mathematical statistics is available at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, NTNU. The successful candidate will join a research project concerned with the mathematical foundation of statistical inference, which includes Bayesian, fiducial and frequentist statistics. The main aim of the project is to further develop a mathematically consistent theory based on mathematical measure theory, and subsequently, to develop accompanying computational tools for corresponding statistical inferences.
