Chemistry Tercentenary International PhD Scholarships in UK, 2017-2018




University of Edinburgh is inviting applications for maximum of ten PhD scholarships. International students from outside the United Kingdom and European Union are eligible to apply.
The Chemistry Tercentenary International PhD Scholarship scheme helps outstanding research students from outside the United Kingdom and European Union to study in the School of Chemistry by providing for some of the costs of their training and supervision.
The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582, is the sixth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland’s ancient universities.
The studentships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit with candidates requiring the equivalent of a first-class honours degree or upper second-class honours degree from a recognised university or institution. Non-native English Language speakers must meet the University entry requirements of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for PhD programme at University of Edinburgh.
Study Subject: Scholarships are offered in diverse fields to help students in upgrading their education.
Scholarship Award: Each scholarship will have a value of £5,000 per annum and will be deducted from your tuition fees and will be tenable for three years. These awards cannot be held concurrently with fully-funded scholarships such as a Dorothy Hodgkins Postgraduate Award, Commonwealth Scholarship or a School Studentship. They can, however, be combined with other partial funding.

Eligibility: The scholarships are offered to applicants who are liable for the overseas rate of tuition fees and starting a full-time PhD programmes in the School of Chemistry in 2017-2018, with start dates between 1 September 2017 and 1 June 2018. The Supervisor with which you wish to study must support your application.
Nationality: International students from outside the United Kingdom and European Union are eligible to apply.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement: The studentships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit with candidates requiring the equivalent of a first-class honours degree or upper second-class honours degree from a recognised university or institution.
Test Requirement: No
English Language Requirements: Non-native English Language speakers must meet the University entry requirements of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
UK Scholarships
How to Apply: Applicants should apply online through EUCLID for PhD admission to the University of Edinburgh by 1 February 2017. Applicants must also notify the School of Chemistry by emailing notification of their intention to apply for a Tercentenary International PhD Scholarship, also by 1 February 2017. In this email, applicants should give full details of their EUCLID application, nominate up to four supervisors and include a description of their preferred areas of research. Applicants must also indicate how they will fund the difference between the value of the award and the actual annual cost of studying and living at the University of Edinburgh.
