The Swansea University is offering fully funded studentship for new PhD students. This studentship is open to UK/EU students for pursuing research in the field of Biosciences.
Swansea University is a public research university located in Swansea, Wales, United Kingdom. It was chartered as University College of Swansea in 1920, as the fourth college of the University of Wales in 1920, as the fourth college of the University of Wales and in 1948 became the first campus university in UK.
International applicants are expected to demonstrate a good level of English for entry into the UK and for our courses. English Language requirements are normally judged in terms of formal IELTS (International English Language Testing System), this is because IELTS is widely available at thousands of testing centres worldwide.
Course Level: Studentship is available for pursuing PhD programme.
Study Subject: Studentship is awarded in the field of Biosciences: How does the Weather Affect Flight Costs? Disentangling Habitat, Behaviour and Flight Style.
Scholarship Award: Full funding (to cover an annual stipend, full UK/EU tuition fees and research costs) is available for 3.5 years to support a motivated student to gain a PhD. The scholarship is funded by an ERC starting grant awarded to E Shepard (subject to contract completion), and is open to UK/EU candidates only.

Eligibility: Candidates must have a first, upper second class honours or a Master’s degree, in a relevant discipline.
Nationality: This studentship is open to UK/EU students only.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement: If you are applying for a research degree (excluding Master’s by Research), you should hold or expect to achieve a minimum of an upper second-class honours degree (2:1), or equivalent.
English Language Requirement: Most academic departments will ask for an IELTS 6.5 (or equivalent) for postgraduate degrees but there are exceptions and you should always check with the individual departments, or check the conditions included in your offer letter.

  • Academic References – all scholarship applications require two supporting references to be submitted. Please ensure that your chosen referees are aware of the funding deadline, as their references form a vital part of the evaluation process.   • Academic Transcripts and Degree Certificates – academic transcripts and degree certificates must be submitted along with the scholarship application by the funding deadline. University will be using these to verify your academic qualifications.
  • CV – please include a recent CV
Applicants should use the ‘Supplementary Personal Statement’ section of the application form to explain why the award they are applying for particularly matches their skills and experience and how they would choose to develop the project.
